According to the Webster County Sheriff’s Department, on Monday night, an unknown person entered property belonging to the Webster County Water District near Onton and used a high powered rifle to shoot an electric transformer.
The transfomer, located near the water intake for the Webster County Water on Roland Landing Road, was damaged by the shot and blew. This caused the water pumps to switch to a different electric cycle and possibly damaged the water pumps.
Deputies recovered two 30.06 shell casings near the transformers. Kenergy has since replaced the transformer that was damaged.
